A DISTINCTIVE VISION

The XC60 has LED headlights for a strong identity and superior vision at night. Two types are available: LED Illumination switches between dipped and full beam to provide the best view while avoiding dazzling other road users. Active High Beam Illumination technology keeps the lights on full beam but masks out the section that could dazzle oncoming traffic, providing optimum full-beam illumination. Active High Beam Illumination also includes Active Bending Lights that turn in the same direction as the steering wheel, to give a better view through corners.

RIDING ON AIR

Optional air suspension makes the XC60 even more capable, by keeping the ride height constant and giving you a smoother, more controlled ride over bumps and through corners. The suspension’s responses are adjusted constantly on the move, according to its drive mode and speed. In Comfort or Eco drive mode, the body is lowered 10–20mm at higher speeds to use less fuel. In Dynamic mode the body is lowered by 20mm, for even sportier handling.

A DRIVE ADAPTED TO YOU

The XC60 has a choice of drive modes that allow you to adapt the driving experience to your needs. You can switch between three default settings for the engine, automatic gearbox, steering, brakes, stability control system and engine stop/start function. And you can create your own combination with Individual mode. You simply toggle through the drive settings – which are displayed on the 9-inch centre display – using the roller control between the front seats.

A HELPING HAND

Loading and unloading is easier with the power-operated tailgate available for the XC60. It allows you to open or close the tailgate by pressing a button on the car’s remote control, tailgate or dashboard. When combined with the keyless entry option it also offers a hands-free function that means you can even open or shut the tailgate by simply moving your foot under the rear bumper.

INSPIRED CRAFTSMANSHIP

The minimalist, considered design inside the XC60 allows you to focus on beautiful details such as the sleek centre display with touch screen and unique air vents with a slender, metal-finished control. Diamond-pattern finishes for the air vents’ control knobs, starter button, driving mode controller and steering wheel controls delight the senses, while carefully chosen materials are another example of an interior defined by contemporary craftsmanship. Inscription trim includes decor in Driftwood – a unique wood treatment that is satisfying to look at and touch, and which references Volvo Cars’ Swedish heritage.

LET THE LIGHT IN

The panoramic roof available for the XC60 floods the cabin with light. It’s long enough that those in both front and rear seats can enjoy the view of the sky above them, and it is made from special tinted glass that reduces the transmission of unwanted heat and UV radiation. A power-operated sunshade makes it easy to keep strong light out if necessary, while the front section of the roof can be tilted or opened to provide extra ventilation. The roof can be closed using either the remote control lock button or, for cars with keyless entry, the door handle button.

A NATURAL CONNECTION

We understand that technology is more useful when it’s easy to use, which is why interacting with the XC60 feels like second nature. A digital driver display puts important information right in front of you, and its brightness adjusts to the surroundings so it’s always easy to read.

An advanced voice control function allows you to operate climate control, navigation, media and telephone functions using natural speech patterns – no need to memorise set prompts or commands.

A MODE FOR EVERY JOURNEY

A range of drive modes allows you to adapt the XC60 T8 Twin Engine to your needs. Pure mode provides enough electric-only power for the average daily commute. It means you emit zero emissions and travel in near-silent luxury. In Power mode the turbocharged, supercharged petrol engine and powerful electric motor work together to give an instantaneous response when you accelerate. Default Hybrid mode chooses between the petrol engine, electric motor or a combination of the two, to ensure your journey is as smooth and efficient as possible.

NO COMPROMISES

The XC60 was designed from the outset to use a plug-in hybrid powertrain, so the batteries and electric motor of the T8 Twin Engine don’t compromise space, versatility or weight distribution. It plugs into a domestic power socket to top up the battery, and the batteries are recharged automatically on the move, as you slow down. The powerful petrol engine means you can even keep going without an electric top-up.

BUILT FOR SOUND

Your music is part of the experience in the XC60. An integrated Spotify app means there’s no need to connect your phone to enjoy it. Support for Apple CarPlay allows you to link an Apple iPhone, while Android Auto is also supported. The Sensus Connect package gives you access to a range of additional apps, allowing you to enjoy internet radio and audiobooks in your XC60.

Harman Kardon Premium Sound gives you precise, powerful sound, while top-of-the-range Bowers & Wilkins audio provides remarkable clarity and power.

HELPING YOU AVOID DANGER

City Safety is a Volvo Cars innovation that spots potential danger, and helps you avoid it. It uses radar and camera technology to identify other vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians and large animals ahead, day or night. It warns you if it detects an imminent collision and, if you don’t react in time, City Safety can automatically apply the brakes to help avoid or mitigate a collision. In the XC60, City Safety includes Steering Support, which helps you to steer away from danger as effectively and safely as possible.

KEEPING YOU ON TRACK

Run-off road Mitigation is a standard safety feature for the XC60 that makes it less likely for the car to be steered off the road accidentally. This Volvo Cars innovation detects if the car is about to leave the road unintentionally, at speeds between 65-140km/h, and then uses steering and – if necessary – brake support to guide the car back onto the right path.

If the car does leave the road, Run-off Road Protection reduces the chances of serious injury. It includes an energy-absorbing feature in the front seat frames that cushions vertical impact in the event of a hard landing and, in addition, optional safety belts that tighten electrically.

Our range of styling accessories allows you to give the XC60 a look that’s all yours. Each one has been created by our designers to complement the athletic look of the XC60. The exterior styling kit includes front and rear skid plates in stainless steel, and unique integrated dual split tail pipes at the rear. Body-coloured wheel arch extensions that give the XC60 an even more purposeful appearance are also available as an accessory.
